Interprovincial transfer to New Brunswick

Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist transferring from another province shall be those persons licensed by a regulatory body in another Canadian jurisdiction immediately prior to application for licensure in New Brunswick, and are in good standing with the regulatory body and who have successfully completed an approved entry to practice exam.

NON-Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist transferring from Quebec shall be those persons who have either wrote the Québec MLT Ministerial exam and/or worked as an MLT for a period of one (1) year in Québec and are licensed by the OPTMQ immediately prior to application for licensure in New Brunswick, and are in good standing with the regulatory body, but who have not completed an approved national entry to practice exam.

Requirements for new application

  • Submit letter of good standing from last registered province.
  • Submit proof  PLI coverage either from CSMLS, MLPAO or Harvard Western Insurance 
  • Submit NBSMLT application form (fee waived)
  • Submit Provincial registration form + code sheet

  • Make online payment within 24 hours of submitting documents *
  • Please allow 10 business days for processing once all documents have been submitted

If you are requesting an interprovincial transfer and you previously held an NBSMLT license, you are required the follow the reinstatement process and pay the appropriate fees.

Inter-Province Transfer out of New Brunswick

Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist transferring from New Brunswick to another province are required to notify the NBSMLT of their resignation. All provinces who regulate the profession of medical laboratory technology will require a letter of Standing from the NBSMLT attesting that the member is compliant will all registration requirements.
