The New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists is a, non-profit organization, is the regulatory body and professional association for approximately 600 medical laboratory technologists in New Brunswick. The NBSMLT is seeking a proven leader and passionate candidate with a demonstrated track record for leading change and fostering strategic direction, to fill the full-time contract position of Executive Director to commence in August 2017.

POSITION SUMMARY: The successful applicant, reporting to the NBSMLT Board of Directors, shall manage the daily operations of the organization while representing the NBSMLT at various meetings, events and consultations. The Executive Director is an effective communicator that focuses on maintaining strong partnerships and relationships with our stakeholders while delivering an effective service that meets the needs of our registrants.

Education and Experience

o University degree or college diploma in management, leadership, public administration and/or relevant leadership experience in the regulatory/non-profit sector

Professional designation

o CSAE or PMP designation an asset

Knowledge, skills and abilities

o Proficiency in English and French, spoken and written (* in compliance with NB Official Languages Act 2016 amendment)

o Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profits, board led, professional regulatory organizations

o Knowledge of financial and human resources management

o Knowledge of project management

o Knowledge of the medical laboratory profession an asset

o Valid driver’s license

o Proficiency in the use of computers for: MS Office, Outlook, Internet, Financial management software an asset, Website maintenance (CSM) an asset

Flexible office environment: The mission of the organization may sometimes take the executive director to non-standard workplaces involving ground and air travel across Canada with several hours sitting down.

The option to relocate the head office may be considered with the successful applicant.

Standard business hours, with flexibility to include some evenings, weekends, and overtime hours on occasion to accommodate activities such as Board and committee meetings and representing the organization at various events and meetings across New Brunswick and Canada.

Compensation:  A personal services contract, with full-time hours, which is competitive and reflects the importance of the role, will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
